I have been involved in the sport since 1991. Not knowing anything other than what I read about Schutzhund I decided to visit a group who were training dogs this way. I was impressed with what I saw and was asked if I would be interested in learning helper work. I started that same day and I was hooked, even though I didn’t have a dog at this time. After the accreditation of this club I eventually became President and club helper. During my time with the TSC I have had the opportunity to work with handlers and dogs, getting them ready for competition at club, regional, national and international events.

In 1997 along with a few others, I left the Toronto Club and we formed the Durham SchH Club. As President and one of the Training Directors I work with members in all three phases preparing them for trial, my main involvement being with Tracking and Protection and training new helpers. I am a club helper and a GSSCC Teaching Helper.

I was fortunate with my first dog Sunshadows Cassie, getting her at 8 weeks old and getting a SchH 3 by the time she was 3 years old and competing at the Canadian Nationals. Since then I have worked and competed with both males and females at club, regional and national events to various titles.

I am currently working with 2 dogs to SchH 3 - Bosha Vom Lauderhaus from my breeding, and Figo von der Wilden Nachbarschaft, both SchH 2. The challenge is to get the SchH 3 on Figo if it is the last thing I do :))

I have been fortunate to work with a lot of excellent people.  I hope I have been able to pass as much encouragement and knowledge to others as I have received from them.

Thanks to all.
